Superbowl Party

So last week I realized the Superbowl was coming and Noah was quite excited to see it. I asked Darren what did he want to eat that night and he said, "Aren't we going to the Tuttle's? So I casually call Anna and coerce her to host another Superbowl party. She did it last year, so of course we will assume it is an annual event. Thanks for being a good sport, Anna. We had a great time.
Bea came to play with Roxy.
Noah and Christian were ready to cheer on the Cardinals, as were we all, but the Sheltons and Lue.
These pictures don't show our excitement, they must have been taken during the 1st quarter.
By the time the game got exciting, I had put away the camera.
Thanks for another great party. Same time, same place next year?!

Girls' Weekend

This last weekend was my annual girls' weekend. We were planning to stay at a lakehouse on Canadaigua Lake. It was a weekend that did not go as planned. To begin, Heidi's flight was canceled and she decided to stay home. Mary and Paige made it here on Friday and we spent the afternoon eating and shopping and then headed to the lake. Joanna unlocks the front door and we hear the sound of running water-similar to that of a large fountain. We walk into the kitchen and find a pipe has burst and the whole house is flooded.
Of course, panic ensues and we are frantically trying to find the water main to the house...to no avail. Eventually, the fire department had to come to turn it off. Downstairs, where we were to sleep, the ceiling had collapsed and there was 4-5 inches of standing water and the ceiling was raining. This was the bed I had planned to sleep in.
After checking out a local hotel and trying to decide where to stay, we realized Suzy's mom was out of town and we commandeered her lovely, large home for the weekend. What a relief! Joanna and Paige warming up in front of the fire. Amazing Paige had gotten quite wet as she tried to turn off the water in the raining basement.

suzy and mary
Heidi, you were missed terribly and this was your empty seat at Cheesecake factory. Our weekend was not the same without you.
Saturday morning, we were joined by another group of good friends. The plan was basically to hang out and eat, and enjoy time together without our kids. Bea saw a picture of our group and said, "hey, they are all moms." Yea, it is nice to be individuals again. Anna even said for a short moment she forgot she was a parent. We need to do this more often.
It seems green was the color of the day. We ventured out into the snow for dinner. There were nine of us that night.

Once back we immediately put on our jammies and get down to the good stuff. I love this picture of Amy. She looks like she is having a great time (as we all were).

We had 7 pieces of cheesecake that got passed around to be enjoyed by all.
I don't believe this was planned, but don't these little munchkins look cute.
Nothing says girls' weekend like midnight guacamole.
This is not everyone who spent time with us this weekend, but everyone who was there at 11pm on Saturday night.
I love my friends and I love that we can count on our husbands to take care of the kids and give us all a little break. Just a shame we can't do this more often.

Winter Blooms

My amaryllis has bloomed. It is so nice to have something alive and in color in the house during the winter. I have another to pot, but I am out of potting soil and our big outside planter is covered in snow and I am too lazy to go dig out some dirt. I imagine I will get around to it once these start to fade.

Music-Should it stay or should it go?

Question-Should I keep the music on the blog or get rid of it? I will take your comments under consideration and then decide.

Walt Disney World

Posted by Picasa
We spent last week in Florida, enjoying milder/warmer weather and all the wonders of Disney World. I feel confident in saying it was one of our best family vacations yet. We weren't thrilled with the resort, the weather could have been warmer, and we should have had seats at Fantasmic, but overall our family dynamics were good and that is saying a lot.

4th picture from 4th folder

I got tagged by Carla. This is my birthday from December 2004. Joanna made me this blanket and I still love it.  No comments about how silly we look.
I tag anyone willing to play.

Once there was a snowman

Bea came off the bus from school and stayed outside to make a snowman. She came in to get some dogfood to make the face.Bea is quite serious about putting the face on her snowman.
Not so sure I like that.
Maybe if I pick at it a little.

A Hat for Bijoux

I made another hat. This time I tried a baby hat.

Her mom wanted something not pink, so I went yellow and green. Annabel thought I should put the pom pom on the side rather than on top because the top looks wintery and the side would make it Springy-er. I think she was probably right.

Noah's First Swim Meet

was on Tuesday. I kind of strongly encouraged him to join the swim team because I think he has the most potential as a swimmer and he totally has a swimmer body. I wore him down and he finally agreed to do it.
I include these two because I think he looks really cute.

"Mom, what are you doing?" Just taking pictures.
200 Medley team--came in 3rd
On the block ready for the 3rd leg.

Swimming the butterfly. Look at his air.
50 free
He can breathe on both sides.
He was this close to winning. He totally screwed up his turn, maybe Friday's meet he'll have better luck.
Noah is please with himself and I am tickled by how well he did. I have a few more pictures posted from the meet on my picasa web album. Feel free to check them out.

Changing the light bulbs

is a dangerous job. It requires more than just a ladder...
It also requires the kitchen table. Whoever put in this fan with covered bulbs never once thought of having to change the bulbs. As we remodel this room, this is one of the first things to go.We put in the 5 year bulbs, but they seem to only last a year. So that also means that the fan blades only get dusted that often as well. UGH

Happy New Year

This was the first New Year's Eve that we have spent with the kids in my memory. They complained last year that we never celebrate with them, so this year we rang in the New Year together.

My Christmas Cactus

is blooming--they all are, in fact. My Paperwhites have also been blooming, but I think I deleted that photo--I can't find it. ugh I really need a better way to organize my photos. What system do you use and how do you label your folders, date or something else?

I found it.
