My bountious harvest

This may be the extent of my summer garden. I found this lone tomato last night. I have a few more green ones on the tiny vines, but I doubt they will do anything before the weather turns off cold.
Darren can grow any type of flower in this yard. Why is it that we can't grow basic tomatoes? Everyone else in town seems to get lots of vegetables out of their yard each summer. I bet Darren is peeing on my tomatoes at night to stunt their growth!

Afternoon visitor

Look who came to visit us on the backporch today. Good thing Winnie wasn't outside; she might have eaten it.

the Jonas Brothers

The Jonas Brothers were at Darien Lake last night, as were we-Annabel, Bea, Lindsay and I.

Darren surprised the girls with tickets to the concert. Somehow, I'm the one who ended up sharing the whole, loud, hormonal experience with them.

Annabel screamed as loudly as any other pre-pubescent girl there, and I think there must have been a million little girls there.

Fencing

Annabel just finished a week of fencing lessons through our town rec. She wasn't so sure that she would like it, but what do you know, she did.

Stoney Brook State Park

After Corning, we headed to Stoney Brook State Park, which has been one of our favorite places since Noah was a baby. The kids loved the water and the falls, but we couldn't convince Lindsay that the 62 degree water wasn't too cold for swimming or wading.

Corning Museum of Glass

On Thursday, we drove 1 1/2 hrs south to Corning to see the museum there.
We saw some beautiful things, but it is a once in a lifetime trip--meaning I don't need to ever return.

Dad sat in the back to keep the kids from fighting and Noah and Bea learned how to do lots of knots. Noah should get a merit badge out of this.

Redwings

Darren got box tickets for another Redwings game on Wednesday night.
It was especially fun to be able to take Lindsay and Dad along as well.
Having done both box seats and general admission seating, I'd have to say I prefer the box seats! Free seats and free food will get me everytime.

Tennis Lessons

Posted by Picasa
Noah and Beatrice took tennis lessons this summer at the High School. I didn't manage to get any pictures of them from the front, just a few from behind.
They, both, love to play tennis and really enjoyed learning more about the game.

Every now and then I get a picture I really like. This one of Bea is one I like.

Cheesecake Factory

The Cheesecake Factory celebrated their 30th Anniversary with slices for $1.50. Noah and I had Key Lime, Annabel had Brownie Supreme, and Bea had Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough.
We had 4 adults and 12 kids. We figured if we went at 3:30 we could get in and we did without any waiting.
What a bargain! One of the highlights of our summer!

Joanna has even more pics.
