This last weekend was my annual girls' weekend. We were planning to stay at a lakehouse on Canadaigua Lake. It was a weekend that did not go as planned. To begin, Heidi's flight was canceled and she decided to stay home. Mary and Paige made it here on Friday and we spent the afternoon eating and shopping and then headed to the lake. Joanna unlocks the front door and we hear the sound of running water-similar to that of a large fountain. We walk into the kitchen and find a pipe has burst and the whole house is flooded.
Of course, panic ensues and we are frantically trying to find the water main to the house...to no avail. Eventually, the fire department had to come to turn it off. Downstairs, where we were to sleep, the ceiling had collapsed and there was 4-5 inches of standing water and the ceiling was raining. This was the bed I had planned to sleep in.
After checking out a local hotel and trying to decide where to stay, we realized Suzy's mom was out of town and we commandeered her lovely, large home for the weekend. What a relief! Joanna and Paige warming up in front of the fire. Amazing Paige had gotten quite wet as she tried to turn off the water in the raining basement.

Heidi, you were missed terribly and this was your empty seat at Cheesecake factory. Our weekend was not the same without you.
Saturday morning, we were joined by another group of good friends. The plan was basically to hang out and eat, and enjoy time together without our kids. Bea saw a picture of our group and said, "hey, they are all moms." Yea, it is nice to be individuals again. Anna even said for a short moment she forgot she was a parent. We need to do this more often.
It seems green was the color of the day. We ventured out into the snow for dinner. There were nine of us that night.
Once back we immediately put on our jammies and get down to the good stuff. I love this picture of Amy. She looks like she is having a great time (as we all were).
We had 7 pieces of cheesecake that got passed around to be enjoyed by all.
I don't believe this was planned, but don't these little munchkins look cute.
Nothing says girls' weekend like midnight guacamole.
This is not everyone who spent time with us this weekend, but everyone who was there at 11pm on Saturday night.
I love my friends and I love that we can count on our husbands to take care of the kids and give us all a little break. Just a shame we can't do this more often.
