February Snow

We had quite a snowfall today. It has been snowing all day and night, and this is the most snow we have had in several weeks. The trees were laden with snow and were just beautiful.

Fighting Boredom

As winter break comes to a close (yippee), we look for more ways to keep the troops entertained. Annabel built the city of Domino (for all you Texans) with city hall, library, church and parking lot among other dwellings and high rises. She made us keep it up all night so we could enjoy her handiwork.

I didn't even comment on the fact that she used a 12 count and 16 count domino set as building material. We will have a heck of a time trying to get these back into the right sets! At least it kept her occupied and happy most of the afternoon. Darren and I did not have one phone call complaining about fighting while we were out running errands--which is extremely rare!

Annabel and I, also, baked a strawberry and cream cake to celebrate cousin George Washington's birthday. Bea got a calendar for V-day and she has been counting down the days for us. I modified Rachel Leavitt's recipe due to lack of ingredients, but it was a huge hit. It may be an all new favorite at our house.
We have survived another school break and got some things accomplished as well. Not too bad.

More Winter Break

Darren took vacation during the kid's break to work on the house. He has laid flooring in Annabel's room; and he and Noah are prepping the floor of Bea's room in these pictures. We/He is almost done with Bea's room and we still need to do the bonus room and our bedroom. Both of which require serious decluttering and moving of furniture. I still need to pick out paint for these two rooms as well. I am leaning towards a blue of some sort.

Photoshop Class

Joanna and I took a Photoshop CS2 class together at Chris' office. I was so very excited to get to take this class with Joanna. We spent two whole days at the computer and my mind is a little overflowing with information. Chris has a great set up and he and his partner really take care of their clients providing excellent training , and feeding them all day as well! Thanks so much Chris for the class and setting me up on the computer.

Mermaid Slumber Party

Annabel had 3 friends over for a mermaid slumber party last night. She had it all planned out. They watched Splash and Aquamarine. They made sugar cookies (supposedly in star fish shapes); they made bracelets or necklaces; and ate lots of junk food and staid up really late.

I was so happy that Annabel invited Beatrice to join them without any prompting from me. It made Bea very happy to be included.

Darren and Noah disappeared for the night. They went to Red Robin; shopping at Old Navy for Noah, who keeps growing out of his clothes; and then went to see National Treasure. It was a happy night for all.

Wild Turkeys

I drove past this group of wild turkeys four times today between 10 and 5. They were in the field across from my neighborhood. They were as big as yearling pigs and very busy going through the grass that has just been exposed in our February thaw. There is light at 6pm and the sky is no longer just gray. Spring is coming and the animals are the first to recognize the signs--that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

1st grade Valentine's party

Darren and I went to Bea's Valentine's party in her classroom. There was lots of pink and red and sugar. You could smell it in the air. The kids were doing a couple of crafts with conversation valentine candies and glue, as well as lots of glitter.

Living in the 'Burbs

I drive into our neighborhood this afternoon and find these three little ladies taking a walk down the street. They were a little camera shy and weren't too happy about me following them. It always amazes me that there is so much wildlife living among us.

Colonial Days

Annabel was so excited to participate in Colonial Days at her elementary school, today.
We went to Colonial Williamsburg a year ago, so she knew what she wanted to wear. We were able to find this dress and apron with kerchief on ebay. She couldn't have been happier with it.

Desperate Sledders and Boy Chef

We have had almost no snow in January, and my girls were getting a little down about it, so when the ice storm hit this weekend and then a light dusting of snow on top of that occured, they hit the slopes--the driveway actually.
While girls were busy sledding, Noah was inside making dinner. He has a 10 week home ec class that requires him to make 5 things from scratch. He made Pioneer Chicken Soup and it was delicious! Though Noah has no idea how it tastes, he refused to try it. Typical for Noah, as he only eats about 5 things and soup is not on that list.
