Room Makeover

I told Annabel to clean her room before she left for camp, if not I would do it while she was gone and I would throw away anything I wanted. She did not clean her room.
I did not get enough before pictures to show just how bad it really was. Every drawer was open and empty and there was no place to stand in her room without stepping on something.Photobucket
Oh, the horror.Photobucket
Wednesday night, three of my good friends volunteered to come over and help me clean her room. It took four, adult women three hours to clean this room. We removed 4 bags of garbage and one load of dirty clothes out of her room, as well as two broken pieces of furniture.
Now it is beautiful.Photobucket
I have found myself going into her room this week just to sit on the bed and enjoy the cleanness of it all.Photobucket
We went through all her clothes, cleaned out the closet, and tossed and tossed and tossed.Photobucket
Photobucket
Now, even Winnie can find someplace to sit and enjoy the room.Photobucket
I could not have done this without the help, support and guidance of my good friends Joanna, Alissa and Sarah. You are cleaning goddesses! Please come live with me and be my fairy godmothers.

Straight out of Parent Trap

is how I describe the camp Annabel is at this week. This is her first year at sleep away camp and I am so excited for her (and for me!).Photobucket
This is the mess hall that opens out onto the lake.Photobucket
Darren's not happy to see her gone for a week.Photobucket
She is in a cabin with 7 other girls, all 11-12yrs old. She did such a great job of packing.Photobucket
She has never been away from home for this long alone.Photobucket
Annabel is still sad, but look at Darren's face. It is a reflection of mine.Photobucket
This is her cabin.Photobucket
And this is the view from her cabin porch. Beautiful.Photobucket
She was having a hard time saying good-bye until someone mentioned that they were going to go do the swim test. Her eyes got wide and she was gone.

the curling iron

One of Annabel's b-day gifts was a gift card to Justice. One of the items she purchased was a curling iron. She has put that to good use. She loves curling everyone's hair. Amanda got her's done for her birthday.Photobucket
Halle was another willing participant.Photobucket
If medical school doesn't work out for her, who knows, maybe she has a career in hair design.

Annabel's party

Photobucket
Annabel just had her birthday party, even though her birthday is in May. She was waiting for warmer weather and for Noah to be gone, so she had it while he was at scout camp. She planned out all the details, from the handmade invitations to the Luau theme. Luckily, for me, she only invited a handful of girls and only 2 spent the night.

Serenity

My friend Heather asked me to take pictures of her niece's new baby. I am always looking for experience, so if people don't mind being guinea pigs, I'll give it my best shot.
Serenity is about 6 wks, I think. She is a beautiful little red-head, who staid awake until the very end.
PhotobucketShe just fit into my basket.
PhotobucketSerenity's mom made this cute little hat. I want one in every color.

Heather, I hope you are all happy with these. I have a few more to show you. Call me.

NYLT

Noah is away at camp this week. We drove him down on Sunday morning and will pick him up Saturday morning. He is attending the Boy Scouts National Youth Leadership Training Camp (NYLT) at Camp Cutler. I am pretty sure that I was more excited about this than he was. This means that I will have only two girls home for the week. This should mean at least 1/3 less fighting. Not to mention how good it will be for him (and for me!).Yippee!!
Ready for a week of camp.PhotobucketNoah really doesn't want his picture taken.Photobucket
Making a slide for his new kerchief.Photobucket
Noah, I'm praying for you to find something to eat and to stay warm and dry, and to have a good time. He did all his own packing. He says he had everything on the list. I hope he didn't forget a poncho. It's been a little wet here.
Photobucket
He really doesn't want me to take his picture. He didn't even say goodbye. He was quite ready to be done with his parents. PhotobucketDad, these are your socks he is wearing, as well as carrying the knife and sewing kit you sent.

Fireworks

I had so much fun taking pictures of the fireworks last night and I can't pick out just one or two that l love most. This was my first year to take pictures with a dslr and I giggled with delight over each one that came out.

I've decided to share these over the summer. It should keep me in a summery kind of mood.

5K

Darren started running about 2 weeks ago. He hasn't been a runner in over 14 years ( since before we got married). Amy convinced him to run the Brighton July 4th 5K and went and registered him. So, bright and early this morning he ran the 5k in 32:27. We had a good time cheering him on, as well as Brandon and Amy, who also ran the race.

Good job, Darren.
