Heidi is in town!

Heidi came to town to bring Caleb and Melaine to visit their friends. How exciting for me that she could stay with us. We took a couple of days to go to the lake house with Suzy and Joanna. Max was a hoot in his life jacket. We found a couple of spiders in Joanna's room that took a little while to get out. We had a good time playing tourist again. The three boys had a good time renewing friendships and despite the blurriness of the last photo, it is the best one I have.
See you in February Heidi!
Melaine's return to Rochester
Our good friend Melaine moved to Utah two years ago, but saved her money and made a trip back here this summer. We were so happy to have her visit, but wish we could have seen her family as well
We spent a day at Strong Museum.
Saturday was for swimming with friends and we went to Palmyra on Sunday and visited the church sites and the sacred grove.
A trip to the zoo was just like old times.
Bye, Melaine, we'll miss you. Read more...

Tennis Lessons
They, both, love to play tennis and really enjoyed learning more about the game.
Every now and then I get a picture I really like. This one of Bea is one I like. Read more...

Swim Lessons

We are finishing up 6 weeks of swim lessons. I found a new swim instructor as our good friend Gwen has moved to California. Libby just graduated from Boston College, where she was a swimmer and will be the new asst swim coach at the UofR this fall. The kids have loved her and she has done a great job teaching the kids. We ended up with lots of swimmers this year.
New color
The piano is in our entry blocking the front door until the tile is down. The kids get no reprieve from practicing. Read more...

Sunday at the Pond
April called said they were going to the pond in our neighborhood to feed the ducks, so we walked over to join them. Amy and her kids showed up as well.
Annabel loves Jack. They are kindred spirits.

Bea has been sick for the last 4 days, but has decided she will live. After a swim in the pool she came out and said she was normal again.

Adam leads with his belly and I was afraid he would topple down the embankment head first into the pond. He managed to stay on his feet.
Jack was too busy to let me get his picture.

Cheesecake Factory
We had 4 adults and 12 kids. We figured if we went at 3:30 we could get in and we did without any waiting.
What a bargain! One of the highlights of our summer!
Joanna has even more pics.

Letchworth
Annabel has felt very deprived because Noah and the scouts go camping so often. She thinks it is sexist and unfair and says she is done with Faith in God activities because they never do anything fun and adventurous. So while Noah was away at Scout camp this week, Darren took the girls to Letchworth (the grand canyon of the east or so they say)for the weekend.
I was so excited that Darren wanted to take a camera with him. I didn't go, by the way. My plan was to have a quiet weekend at home--that didn't happen. Anyway, I think he took some great pictures.
They decided it was the weekend of mushrooms and toadstools. These are just a sampling of the many fungi that they discovered. They are especially proud of the blue one they found.
Darren says he is done with tent camping and will stay in a cabin next time. Maybe I'll join them then...or not. Read more...
The Returning Scouts
Noah has returned from his week of camp. Darren is convinced there is something different about him.
Noah has nothing but good things to say about camp. They had lots of rain, but you can't keep a good boy down with a little water. More pics will be posted soon on Troop 483. Noah took a camera as well and as soon as they get developed, I will post them here.
Thanks to Kelly for sharing his great pictures with me.

Scout Camp Departure

Noah has left for his first Scout Camp. He will be spending a week in the Adirondacks. We are all excited to see him off, each with a different reason. Check our Troup 483 for more pics.
