Voted

Annabel is convinced that there will be no Christmas if Obama wins tonight. She rightly believes our taxes will be raised and there will be no money for anything other than basic survival. She figured this out on her own. I told her it hopefully won't be that dire, but we may have to tighten our belts.

that Annabel is a pretty smart kid. If my kids had heard all of that they wouldn't have wanted Obama. They came home from their mock elections all fired up for Obama. I would love to know what they are saying about these two in school. Cooper said if McCain won they would have school on Saturday.

Hopefully she'll realize her mistake once she's old enough to think for herself.

Best day I've had in a looong time.

Eventually all you republicans may come to the same realization.

We dragged the big kids out of bed when the election was called (not too late here in Utah). They were all moaning and groaning when they found out, but it turned into a really great conversation with them. We emphasized with them that Obama is still a good person, though we didn't agree with him on many of his ideas!

It was fun to have the kids asking so many political questions these last weeks. The big thing we talked about with them last night was speaking positively about our new president (we've never been unkind) and supporting him as the leader of our country. It was a nice feeling in the room.

This may be your best chance to make a Republican out of her and to save money on Christmas at the same time. Two birds with one stone.

Haha... well that is one way to look at it.

I was unaware of your true level of deviousness Laura!

Ha, ha, I guess you will have to start shopping at Wal-Mart instead of Neiman Marcus.
Don't warp the kid Deborah. You tell her that if she gets hungry I will Fed Ex turnip greens and squirrel to her.

You might try telling her that she lives in a society and has an obligation to pay her part for the care, safety, and education of society as a whole; that in so doing she is not only benefiting the society she lives in but herself as an individual as well. Paying taxes is a patriotic action and it is a downright shame that it is so badly maligned.

Oliver Wendall Holmes said that paying taxes is the price of democracy.

No matter her parents opinions, I have a feeling Annabel is and always will be of her own mind. And that is not a bad thing by any means.
