My baby's gone to Texas

My biggest baby, that is. He has gone to visit his grandparents and as Darren says "learn the manly arts."

This is Noah's first trip alone on a plane (of which he has plenty experience, but not without me!) He turns 13 next month and we all thought this would be a perfect time for a trip to Texas. My dad says "he's gonna fight wild hogs, rassel alligators and kiss Texas girls." He is game for most things, not so sure about the Texas girls, but he'll definitely be willing for anything else his grandpa has planned.
We're gonna miss that boy.

are you really going to miss him or did you just say that? He is going to have a great time. Maybe he will come back with stories like you told us from your childhood on the farm.

Report: This boy rode a tornado into Texas and hasn't slowed down yet.
He brought home 42 fish today and shot the center out of the targets today with both the 22 and 30-30 rifle. He may have been born in NY but his blood runs pure Texan.

Hard for me to think of Noah as a Texan. We'll see which of the manly arts' skills he brings home.

Well Amy as a hunter gatherer he caught enough fish yesterday to feed his family, three church widows and four orphans and that was just his first day of manly arts' skills.

Way to go Noah. Did you eat any of those fish? Enjoy your visit. Deborah, I know you are excited for him, and at least you know he made it there. Now just hope he doesn't shot himself in the foot.

I sent my baby to Texas a couple of weeks ago too. She's 14 and rode the plane all by herself for the first time to visit Grandma in Austin. She had a blast.

That's called character building where I come from! Have fun Noah! Grandparents are the best!!! It seems as if you may come back a changed boy.

Report #2: Today was farmer work. Noah tilled the entire garden, planted tomatoes and covered the new asparagus with compost. Later today we will plant watermelons and kill some roosters for chicken and dumplings.
This boy is a top hand.
Farming must make one hungry because he knocked off another half gallon of Blue Bell.
