Return to Mayhem

The travellers have returned and the mayhem has commenced. Annabel is in tears every time she thinks of Kimball and Morgan. Bea told me she couldn't remember what I looked like. Noah is watching the last of the Olympics that we had taped and he didn't get to see before leaving.--He is way into the beach volleyball and has agreed to try out for the volleyball team at school this week.
Darren has collapsed into the bed in a stupor.
School starts in 2 days!

Tile update

We are finally coming to an end of the tiling project in our living room and dining room after an entire summer of living in chaos.

This shows the enhancement/sealer and the change it makes on the tile.

Our Last Day

Today we spent a lot of time at the beach. The weather was beautiful today and we all felt like we needed to savor our last few hours on the beach. All except Noah. He came to the beach for just a short stint this morning and stayed in the condo most of the remainder of the day. When asked he said that the beach just didn't mean as much to him as it did when he was younger. Fair enough. Annabel meanwhile stayed in full body contact with the beach until the last rays of sunshine faded (picture writhing face down, buried in sand and surf). Bea as always is our perfect medium who appeared at the beach often but will not be digging its remnants from her crevices for days to come like Annabel. The girls got their hair wrapped and braided and this made them quite happy. I think their hair turned out great. We had a final dinner out at a Mexican restaurant. I complimented the kids on their general good behavior (I give it a 4/10 on the pain scale) and now we only have the trip home to survive.

Almost Done

All of these pictures were taken at HardRock Theme park. The park was kind of a bust but did have a couple of good roller coasters. It was blazing hot and we only stayed for a few hours. The theme was slightly mature for the intended audience if you ask me (please refer to Noah and the Lollipops chick) and so the whole park didn't work. I guess there just aren't enough metal heads out there looking for family theme park-type entertainment. I included the picture of me just to prove I was indeed there pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

More from Myrtle Beach

We're still having fun in Myrtle Beach. My sister Mary informs me however that I'm getting meaner and meaner as the week wears on. Being with my sisters cute and young and well behaved family makes me long for a simpler time for our family as well. Oh well, I guess the screaming will just go on for us. I don't know what else to do.
Some of the pictures are from our Cirque de Soleil (spelling?) trip. The kids LOVED this. Personally it gave me the creeps a little. The aesthetic of the show is kind of a scarry-glam pagan-worship vibe. It was kind of like Rocky Horror meets CareBears. Or maybe its just my own irrational fear of mimes.

My bountious harvest

This may be the extent of my summer garden. I found this lone tomato last night. I have a few more green ones on the tiny vines, but I doubt they will do anything before the weather turns off cold.
Darren can grow any type of flower in this yard. Why is it that we can't grow basic tomatoes? Everyone else in town seems to get lots of vegetables out of their yard each summer. I bet Darren is peeing on my tomatoes at night to stunt their growth!

A Break in the clouds

I haven't figured out how to make the text fit under the individual pictures so you'll have to look up and down. It's been raining a lot but there are intervals of clear and even sunny weather. The bright side of the rainy weather is that its cool and breezy all the time which as you may know is not to be taken for granted in the South during the month of August.
Incidentally you'll have to excuse the pic featuring Annabel's butt. I felt the need to share a bit of my daily reality with everyone and thus acknowledge the booty that cannot be hid. In fact is there any skinny white girl swim suit that can contain her ample bottom? Please let me know.
My sister Mary and her husband Dan and their two kids Morgan and Kimball are here with us also. Perhaps that will answer any questions about the random people in the first few pictures. Or maybe they don't appear that random considering the substantial resemblance between my sister and me.

Myrtle Beach

They keep adding nice things to the resort. I think they're about done now. We swam in the ocean today. Annabel is the only one with every body part sticking out above the surf except for her head. Everyone kept looking at her like she needed help. I'm used to it.
